| Genic i may have your trailer story beat bro :( All was a nice sunday. Had just won $1k last night and a 5ft tall trophy and the 2nd best award they gave out, then went today and got a ton of cool shit accomplished while in Bmore and head out on time at 2pm. Then about an hour into our drive the tahoe started feeling like it was slipping gears a bit, almost like overdrive wasnt engaging properly (have automatic OD and cant select it on and off). Then 10 minutes later it became very bad to the point i decided to pull over. Keep in mind the entire trip up and throughout the weekend she was fine and all normal gauge readings, and today the readings were all fine. Well we pull over and she spudders and stalls. Then lift the hood - no leaks but the overflow tank is boiling and WAY full, i then slightly open the radiator cap to releave some pressure and of course i lose a ton of coolant there. Give her about 20 minutes to cool a bit and put all the water we had back in the radiator (about 3/4 gallon of water is all we had w/ us) and she doesnt start and worse she makes a metal to metal screetching noise when i turn the key. So now i'm pissed cuz she's dead, needs water to even see if thats the issue, its sunday at 3:30pm outside of nowhere and i have a full tahoe, z, and have the g/f and dog. Not to mention its close to 90 degrees today and blue sky...in otherwords...HOT AS HELL. Call AAA since i have their "plus" membership and give them all my info and then just mention that i need a couple gallons of water. She tells me AAA will no longer bring fluids of anykind, that they must have you towed to a place that will. Well that sucks, so i explain i have a trailer and car on the trailer and just need water before i bother having it towed to some town i know nothing about. So i finish that call unsuccessfully and then unload the Z to go get water. Now the funny thing about this is that when i went to the show friday night to "load in" the car the rules stated must have less than 1/4 tank of gas. So i had about 1/8 a tank or so and didnt realize i had to wait about 15 minutes to get loaded friday. Then saturday night took me about 10 minutes to leave (not bad) but then had a 15 mile drive back to the hotel and knew i was damn close to empty but figured no biggie and i didnt want to fill her up then since it was about 2am and i was tired. Figured i didnt need to, she was getting put on the trailer to only tow home. Well as luck would have it for me on this sunday, i pull the z off the trailer and had to go about 2-3 miles up the highway b4 i could turn around to go back to the closest gas station. Make it to the turn around and back on the highway and then die about 1 mile away from my Tahoe. So now i have a Tahoe on 1 direction of the highway thats dead and now have my Z on the other side of the highway w/ no gas. I pull her over and lock her up and start walking only to be passed by a state trooper who doesnt pull over and i raise my hands in anger/dijection/hostility/hatred/etc and fortunetly a nice cool stoner guy and his g/f pull over when they see the cop pass right by me. So they pull over, i explain my bad luck so far today and they offer to take me to get gas/water. So get the gas/water and then they stop back at the Tahoe so i can drop off water (for dog and car) and my g/f says my mechanic returned my call and her friend called her back w/ a guy that can apparently tow the tahoe back to our town. So, give her the water and thank her for the news and get back in w/ the stoner (his name is pablo) and they take me back to the Z. Luckily she's in 1 piece and fires right back up. Pablo and his g/f then give me their card and he offers to let me keep the trailer at his place if i need to and even come back and pick it up w/ his explorer if AAA wont help me w/ the trailer. Talk about a truly cool guy and a rare "good samaritan". So i throw him a $20 for his help and thank them about 50 times at least. Now i have the z w/ 2 gallons of gas and just head back to the Tahoe. G/f had put the water in - took 2 3/4 gallons and the overflow tank was still 3/4 full. Talk to my mechanic and he tells me to try to turn it over, well this time it finally does (after several previous failed attempts) and i xplain to him the weird gear slipping issues and that the gauges were all reading normal, no leaking, and no "smells" of burning oil or coolant. Also oil level was fine. So the hoe starts but sounds very bad, the metal to metal loud screetch becomes lighter to almost barely noticable, but then a kind of "knock" starts happenign, almost like bad idle or heistation style. So he tells me all he can think is perhaps the thermostat was bad or the water pump is shot but that i shouldnt drive it. Now i'm shit out of luck. I'm 4hours from home w/ all this shit and its sunday. So my g/f calls her friend who calls the guy she knows that specializes in picking up cars/trucks. Guy calls us and says he'll do it but for $850 and "it will be a big inconvenience for him", and i'm like fuck that $850 to come pick up the tahoe just so i can drive the Z home. Start thinking of people i know w/ trucks that can haul my tahoe and unfortunetly i have no friends w/ big pick ups or suv's.....but my g/f works w/ a guy who ironically enough has a 92 Tahoe 2door w/ tow package. She tracks down his number (btw its now about 5:15pm, already 2 hours of sitting in the heat) and calls him, finally we're in luck, he is home and doesnt mind helping out. But its a 4hr drive from his place to where we're at and then 4hours back down. So he cant leave till about 6:30pm but is coming to get us. Now even more fun. The tahoe battery dies, then my computer battery dies (later becomes an issue as i have my only set of "written" directions on there and when our tow friend gets lost i cant help). Long story short....was a horrible day and we didnt get back till 430am, but did get the damn thing back. Oh and better yet, i drove the Z back the 4hrs and she drove like a dream but had to have my g/f sit shotgun w/ an 85lb rotty on her lap for 4 hours :( Anyway, life sucks and i think the hoe needs a new engine. She was due to go in for a paint job tomorrow (now today) as well. I'm goign to sleep for quite a while and when i get up i'll post all the HIN pics.
